Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar Awards presented  Oct 12, 09
 
CHENNAI: Dr.Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar Award for outstanding contribution to Tamil language and literature, Dr.M.A.Chidambaram Chettiar Award for excellence in fine arts and Dr.A.C.Muthiah Award for excellence in first generation entrepreneurship, instituted by M.A.C Trust, were distributed here on Monday on the 91st birth anniversary of M.A.Chidamabram Chettiar.

Each award consists of a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh and a silver plate.

S.Mohan, former Supreme Court Judge handing over the awards to T.B.Siddhalingaiah (Tamil language), R.Nagaswamy (archaeology) and R.Sarabeswar and S.Sivaramakrishnan (first generation entrepreneurs) said the contributions made by Raja Sir Annamalai Chettiar’s family to the field of education, health and sports were immense. His major achievement was Annamalai University, which he set up in Chidambaram single-handedly.
