CHENNAI: Former Supreme Court Judge A.R. Lakshmanan will lead a delegation of judges, lawyers, educationists and industrialists to Russia on Tuesday to study the functioning of the judicial system and explore tie-ups in higher education. The 12-member team's trip to Moscow, St. Petersburg and Sochi will be hosted by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, Chennai.
Addressing a pre-departure press conference, Vladimir V. Mariy, Vice Consul, Consulate General of Russia, said the visit was an important part of the ongoing efforts to promote people-to-people diplomacy.
After returning on October 13, the team will submit its recommendations to the government and the judiciary.
